Template:Infobox group The leader of the original Facepunch Republic, returned to 2b2t in November 2019 and it began after chezhead, created the New Facepunch Republic and was a group dedicated to good vibes, specializing in building and restoration. It followed the system of the nearly 10-year-old Facepunch Republic It initially started as a scheme by Armorsmith's Followers, but eventually it turned into a real group thanks to the efforts of Sato86. The group would quickly rise in members due to new players wanting to be part of a group with old players. However, the group encountered major challenges and eventually disbanded with chezhead's approval on November 21st 2021.

Fall and Winter 2019/2020

The story of the New Facepunch Republic begun when Armorsmith contacted chezhead through Reddit and convinced him to return to 2b2t in November of 2019, to revive the republic. Armorsmith intended to create a new union of groups under chezhead's leadership, with the goal of uniting the server under the Facepunch Republic's name. He didn't want to lead such a union of groups by himself, so he intended to allow chezhead to be the public leader. Armorsmith worked with the player 0Neb on this project, and he became the co-leader of the group, but kept his involvement a secret. Their first project was repairing 2k2k. 0Neb designed the Discord server of the group, and recruited many new players. Old players from the original Facepunch Republic such as Isak were also invited.{{#switch:¬

Chezhead never really trusted Armorsmith, and after doing some research about him, he secretly arranged a voice chat meeting with Sato86, who told chezhead that Armorsmith wasn't to be trusted. He revealed Armorsmith's plan to all leaders of the group, which led to a drama that caused the departure of 0Neb, the original founder of the in-game group, and Armorsmith, who orchestrated the whole faction.

After the drama, chezhead and Sato turned the project into an actual group and a hierarchy of leaders and advisors was quickly established, with chezhead as the President. A steady rise of new members revealed that this group was not going to dissolve quickly like many new groups do. The group stayed active with a base led by each of the four leaders.

In February, chezhead announced the creation of the Vice President role. Due to real-life responsibilities, chezhead was unable to lead the Republic fully, therefore he made the leader Vab_ito into the VP to lead the Republic in chez's place. Soon, Vab handed the title over to OMEGAO000, who led as VP for the next couple months until January 2020, where the VP role was given to Jeffrey_214.

Spring of 2020

In May 2020 many new projects were started, one after another. The republic members rebuilt Castle Hatehart under the leadership of Fredmodulars, but it was quickly found out. Another project was 8k8k - a base that was a tribute to 2k2k, with most of the builds in the base being made in the Beta style. In the same month, The Republic began the rebuilding of Rhadamantis led by B0ris_Johns0n, and later joined by other members. After restoration was complete and players went inactive, the base was gradually griefed again. The biggest project was SBA (Spawn Base Alpha) - a base that was supposed to be a meeting place for every group member. After Tabb0 completed the construction of the Great Hall (the biggest building at SBA), and the first meeting occurred of the future plans for the group were discussed.

The Republic was soon plagued with a group of players who would grief its bases. SBA and Kickass Cove were soon destroyed, and smaller NFPR bases were destroyed later. They soon recovered with mike120500 making a new base named Camp Oakwood, as well as Fred creating Steel Outpost, which was soon passed onto CattynGMD when Fred and a friend created Fort Hardware & Software 6.0.

A small rebellion was established (which lasted no more than three hours) when Fredmodulars attempted to take over the Republic due to being angry at what he called, "inactive leadership." Fred had released Jeffrey's (The VP at the time) information across multiple servers in an attempt to gain leverage within the group, causing Jeffrey to also try and doxx Fred.

Jeffrey was later framed by Fred, which caused his removal from the VP role, and later his departure from the Republic. VillagerFilms was chosen to become VP by Fred and his supporters as he was willing to allow Fred and his supporters to violate the groups code under the pretense they would keep radically supporting the groups campaigning and propaganda efforts.

Spring Tensions

The first bit of controversy in the republic was when 0Neb was revealed to be Armorsmith's friend in late 2019. Armorsmith was known to be the original owner of the Republic's Discord server and intended to use chezhead to manipulate other factions into following him. This resulted in the banning of both 0Neb and Armorsmith.

Later, in the Spring of 2020, a faction, calling themselves Hybrid, griefed multiple bases, one being Bunker Badass II griefed by Craig and two being the SBA and Kickass Cove (the latter being mainly inactive). The republic soon resurged and, despite the grief of SBA being a hard hit, multiple bases were built in the latter half of may of 2020 with a new influx of players.

Summer of 2020

During June 2020, a new base named Corinth rose and brought the best builders in the group together to make the most ambitious base in the group's history. Quickly new builds were made such as the reconstruction of Romes Colosseum or the Grand Tree. On 21 June, the base was found and griefed by a newfag named Tr0pic, but its members quickly created a new one. One of said members got their account hacked by a member of Emperium, threatening the safety of the base, but quickly created another.{{#switch:¬

July 2020 saw many changes in leadership and comebacks. At the beginning of July, ancientfag Isak became active again, prompting a large group meeting to take place. Just a few days later, OMEGAO000 came back to the group with new ideas and projects in his mind. VillagerFilms resigned from his position as Vice President for Omega.

On 9th July 2020, a big Facepunch Logo was made out of obsidian at Spawn, with participants being promoted to higher ranks. Omega decided to host Karaoke Night on Voice Chat to make discord server more active. Karaoke Night was the biggest Facepunch meeting, with eighteen people in VC at its peak.{{#switch:¬

July also saw a few anti-facepunch groups rise and inside the group. Fredmodulars was a member of many of these groups, and griefed some of their bases until he quit the server. This insiding crisis and other smaller problems would kickstart chezhead into reorganizing the NFPR into the Facepunch Federation.

On July 23, 2020, the New Facepunch Republic was reformed into the Facepunch Federation. The hierarchy of the original group was altered, and new divisions were formed to create a more stable and powerful group. The Vice President role was removed, and most advisors were given one of the six new branches of the FF. This change was designed to benefit the Federation and help it become a stronger force in the 2b2t community.

Fall of 2020

At the end of August and September the group saw major decay. Because many people joined Facepunch during the COVID-19 pandemic, many members and some high rankers became less active. Notable Advisors were Tangoooooooo and RussianRoomba. However RussianRoomba would leave the group for personal reasons. Small drama rose inside the group when one of the active members, CattynGMD, assisted in the destruction of the Bedrock Comet, and as he was already on a second chance after breaking a rule earlier, he was ultimately removed from the group.{{#switch:¬

Chezhead's return story, showcases the problems Armorsmith caused to him.
chezhead's return story, showcasing the problems Armorsmith caused for him.

Spring and Summer of 2021

In the beginning of the year the Federation saw massive decay to the point where chezhead reverted the name back to the "New Facepunch Republic" as it no longer had the capability to run as a Federation. The Vice President title was brought back as chezhead became busy again irl but this time the title would simply be "President" alongside chezhead. The first new President of the now "Republic" would be VillagerFilms, a very involved and long time member of the group and trusted friend of chezhead.

In chezhead's absence, VillagerFilms would try his best to hold what little was left of the republic together. As at this point, many of the newly established and long lasting bases would be found and griefed by unknown groups and players, causing morale in the group to hit an all time low. It was at this point that VillagerFilms would make the decision to pass down the title of President to Darth08 with permission from chezhead.

Fall and Winter of 2021 - The Collapse

After the summer of 2021, the Republic saw a massive decline in activity, gear, and members, leaving surviving bases from 2020, which relied on shipments of building materials and kits, being left on their own. The situation did not improve as Darth08 and the leadership did what they could to hold the republic together in the form of ambitious projects and plans for the future that would unfortunately never come to pass.

At this point, it was abundantly clear that the group was in a unsalvageable state of decline with little to no bases left. After Darth08 consulted with chezhead and what remained of the leadership, and unanimous vote was made to disband the Republic, supported by all of the leadership.

In mid November, Darth08 consulted with Tangoooooooo to write the Disbandment Announcement of The New Facepunch Republic on Google Docs. After being reviewed by chezhead, the announcement was sent out to the members and the public, which can be viewed to this day<ref>https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQrtyw37u7S2JBX_s23MnH2HevCIlwpGuQclzzNIzbpfq5vi3SGW-iM2uUtg7XAxS9qyyHIbR_Tm0Hj/pub</ref>. On November 21st, 2021, this document was released to the public, and the New Facepunch Republic officially disbanded. The Discord would remain online for archival and meme purposes.

The Facepunch Holdouts 2021 - 2025

After the collapse of the New Facepunch Republic in November 2021 not every Facepunch Republic base had been destroyed there were still a few remaining such as Checkpoint Charlie 2, Corinth II, Valinor 2, and Salvation Outpost. But these bases were isolated and on their own as the republic collapsed. The base members at these locations used material and kits from their own stashes to continue building at their bases. These bases would keep invitations at at a minimum as griefers were still looking to destroy any traces of the republic left behind. These bases did know of each others continued existence such as Salvation Outposts building colaberation with Checkpoint Charlie 2. But there was never a continued effort of cooperation or unity between these bases and their members. As each base leader had their own goals which did not align with the one another, and since the republic had collapsed they had no real obligation to help one another or work together. They were free to take their bases in their own direction in hopes that one day The Facepunch Republic would return once more, but that day never came. Some of the bases went through massive expansion and even renaming themselves, such as Salvation Outpost being renamed to "The Sanctuary". Others like Valinor 2 became ghost towns only recieving the occasional visitor. These bases over the course of a couple years would stop expanding and its base members either quit the server or abandon their base and joined other groups like The VEA, The Astral Brotherhood, Donfuer, etc. Some of these bases would be left completely abandoned for years. Most would be found by historians and base hunters alike and some were preserved through world downloads. Most were eventually found and destroyed by griefers. By 2025 only one base remained, one final stronghold that refused to be destroyed even after being griefed on 4 times it still stood tall, but after surviving 5 years it was finally griefed so badly that it fell for a 5th and final time and fell on April 15th, 2025 marking the official end the Facepunch Holdouts and the true end of The New Facepunch Republic.
